Citizens obey the laws of the State because:

(i) Obedience to the laws of the state shows responsibleness

(ii) Obedience to the laws of the state enables the citizens to enjoy certain rights and liberties.

(iii) Many people obey the laws of the state because of the discipline received at home.

(iv) Loyalty to the government is always in place, if citizens obey the laws of the state. It will also add legitimacy to such a government.

(v) Citizens who fail to obey the laws of the state are liable to court fines and possibly jail terms.

(vi) Stability in government is made possible only when citizens obey the laws of the state

(vii) Most of the essential services provided in the state are made possible through taxes paid by the people. So, a good citizen has to pay tax.
